Posted by spacemom in : Current Affairs , trackbackToday is 2008. Whoopee. (read that in deadpan).
As we were resting in bed on Monday night, watching Dick Clark croak out the last seconds of 2007, I nuzzled Jay and said, "I hate New Years Resolutions". He said "why not? What is so wrong about them?"
Just like I don’t like Yom Kippur as a specific day to atone for your sins, I don’t like New Year’s Day as a day to resolve to change. I am just like that. I don’t need to reset my clock because someone tells me to. Jay pointed out that many people find it easier to do something en mass. I tend to agree. If everybody is resolving to changing in the New Year, why not you too! If everyone is atoning for their sins, why not you too?
Well, I guess this is where I march to the beat of a different drum machine. I make changes when I realize I need them. I wish I could say "Happy New Year, In 2008 I will lose weight, and be a healthier less cluttered person" But I can’t. I mean, there are certain things I need to do, but I know that already and forcing myself to start in January, with the cold and dark doesn’t really help me.
I guess I am a big humbug. Sorry- How about I just work on decluttering because it’s what the cool people do?
In other news, there is a Big Medical hullabaloo* going on for me. Sucks because I need a blood test that involves looking for a gene mutation and this could lead to some serious posts, but first I have to get through the fact that I have to give permission for this damn blood test to be done in the first place. In writing. With a specific form. So the fact that I was drained of 5 vials of blood this morning (for the tests that are NOT genetic) just means I need to go back Friday and offer up my RIGHT arm for the Vampires rather than my left which was bruised this morning and sucked dry…
* BMH is not cancer nor anything that can kill me…yet. Long story and it affects the girls if I have a certain mutation so I need to think about this more… With luck, I don’t have any issues

Good luck with your BMH. I am sending good vibes your way.
Here’s hoping the test results are that the BMH is not there.
Good luck to you, hope this turns out to be nothing serious… keep us posted.

I hope the second stick doesn’t suck too badly and that the results come back perfectly.
Hope the results come back and the BMH is not present. Wishing and hoping for the best for you.
I hope the results come back okay…you guys sure don’t need more medical issues!
