Weekend Recap… February 11, 2008
Posted by spacemom in : Life...otherwise , 4 commentsWow, What a weekend!
I left my office Thursday and took several forms of public transportation to get to the airport. The TSA is starting to fall apart. The lines were non existent and then the attitude of "you are all idiots. You are making my life miserable by not following our silly rules." Sigh… The flight in was, um, non-fun (I will not elaborate, thank you very much) but I made in at 10:00ish. I met up with V & H & L. We got to the house and ate and chatted and were up to 1 am.
Friday was a few airport runs for L2 & S and V2 came over. V2 was our hostess and she was staying across the street with her family. We talked and relaxed and drank. Nice! Then we got some nice dinner out. There was a crazy couple that was drunk off their butts. It was quite odd and they needed a cab, but after they talked to our table, they left to head home! YIKES!
The next morning, K joined us and 6 of us left the Kissimee airport with V2’s husband and a co-pilot for a trip to Key West in V2’s family jet (I know! I know, they have a life that most of us envy!). Key West, folks. As in Jimmy Buffett land! OMG, I had gone to heaven! We ate with the chickens and roosters. Then we went to Duval street to get tattoos and piercings. I had been thinking of a second piercing in my ear for a while. So I did! We did have to wait a while. I am allergic to surgical steel (OK, the nickel in it) so I gave them my earing I was wearing and they sterilized it first. H got her nose pierced. K got a tattoo on her shoulder that contains the initials of her triplets and the initial of the boy she was the surrogate mother for. Then V got a tattoo on her hip for her daughter. They looked awesome, but painful!
L & V2 watched, an S & L2 stayed back at the house (S is pregnant and needed to stay laying down for a bit)
I got a margarita at Margaritaville! OMG, amazing… I wish I could stay there for a weekend just to relax….
Alas, we had to leave, and my friends learned something new about me. Even though I travel, um, extensively, I HATE TO FLY. L was sitting next to me on the plane and kept checking that I was breathing, especially when we hit some turbulence.
They all made fun of me for traveling so much, but being terrified of flying. For the record, I DID go on the plane. That is much better than in 1996 when I was flying to Huntsville, AL on a regular basis and I had to do some serious shots before getting on the damn plane….
I think every woman (and man) needs time away with friends…
